Where the professor does the homework

Soul School is a bi-weekly music program on Budapest's Tilos Rádió hosted by the DJ Professor, Michael Simmons. On Soul School, Michael takes listeners on a tour through the music born of the fusion between African American gospel music and rhythm and blues, known as soul music. With inspiration from the black freedom movement, and developed when the American music scene was segregated by race, soul music addresses human rights issues, inequality, and politics. The Professor talks about that history and brings it into the present day, discussing contemporary racism, discrimination, sexism, oppression, politics, world events, etc., all while spinning both top hits and his favorite deep tracks.Soul School is currently scheduled to air every other Thursday from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Tilos Rádió at 90.3 FM in Budapest. You can also listen to Tilos Rádió online anywhere in the world.
